Marcia Palmer
Oil Painter
Marcia Palmer’s oil paintings allow us to see the extraordinary in the ordinary. Focusing primarily on still lifes, she enjoys finding beauty and interest in the details we easily overlook. Marcia likes to freeze-frame an image in a natural way that connects the viewer with its comfortable familiarity – a relatable scene, a slice of everyday life. Marcia appreciates many art styles but instinctively gravitates to realism in her work. Her paintings are a celebration of the intricate details that fill our lives.
A Maryland native, Marcia received her Art Education degree from Shepherd University. She fell in love with painting at an early age but didn’t discover oil painting until college. She found the rich color of oils, combined with the slower drying process, to be a great fit for her realistic style. Following college, her professional career took her on a different path. During that period, she continued her artistic journey with classical oil painting instructor and nationally recognized artist David Zuccarini. Marcia feels privileged to be a student of Zuccarini whose artistic lineage dates back to the 17th century. Recently retired, Marcia is enjoying an enhanced focus on her art.
Marcia’s work has received numerous awards and appeared in both local and national exhibitions. She is a juried member of the following organizations:
- The International Guild of Realism
- Oil Painters of America
- The National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society
Marcia’s work is available at HorseSpirit Gallery in Savage, MD as well as DISTRICT Arts in Frederick, MD.
