Chinatown Gateway

I just love the structure and colors of the gateways you see when entering Chinatown in cities across the United States. I’m fascinated by this DC gateway and take photographs of it regularly. My goal in the painting is to emphasize not only the great shapes but also the delicious color combination of orange and teal in this structure. Tinting the building next to it with purple instead of burnt orange provides a beautiful dark foil to the Chinatown Gateway.
